This military bunker is part of the former Lorient Submarine Base, a massive naval facility constructed by the German Kriegsmarine during World War II. Built starting in 1941 and expanded until 1943, the base was one of five major U-boat bunker sites in France and served as a critical component of the Atlantic Wall defenses. The concrete structures were designed to withstand Allied bombing and protect German submarines during the Battle of the Atlantic. Located in Brittany, this bunker represents the extensive Third Reich construction efforts along the French Atlantic coast.
