F-4 Object Nuclear Shelter

The F-4 Object, also known as the Rákosi-bunker, is a formerly secret nuclear shelter located beneath downtown Budapest, Hungary. Situated 45-50 metres below the surface, this extensive underground facility stretches several kilometres in an approximate 'H' shape between Kossuth tér and Szabadság tér. Built during the Cold War era, the bunker was designed to protect key government and military personnel in the event of a nuclear attack, reflecting Hungary's strategic importance within the Eastern Bloc during this period of heightened global tensions.
