A massive Second World War bunker complex located in northern France, La Coupole was constructed by Nazi German forces between 1943 and 1944 as part of their V2 rocket program. The structure, codenamed Bauvorhaben 21, was designed to launch up to 50 V2 rockets daily against London. Built into a former limestone quarry near Saint-Omer, the facility features a distinctive concrete dome that gives it its name. The complex includes extensive underground tunnels and storage areas where V2 rockets were prepared for launch. Today, La Coupole serves as a museum and memorial, offering visitors insight into the technological and human aspects of the V2 program and the broader context of World War II in northern France.
