Bunker 42 is a Cold War-era underground fortification located in downtown Moscow, Russia. Constructed in the 1950s at a depth of 65 meters, it was designed to serve as a command center in the event of a nuclear war. The facility was built shortly after the United States developed the nuclear bomb, as the Soviet government sought to protect its leadership with hardened underground structures.
