Bunker near Vlorë

This bunker is part of Albania's extensive Cold War-era bunkerization program, which saw the construction of hundreds of thousands of concrete fortifications across the country between 1967 and 1986. Located near Vlorë in southwestern Albania, this structure represents the widespread defensive network built during Enver Hoxha's isolationist regime, when Albania's government prepared for potential invasion amid deteriorating relations with both the Soviet Union and China. The bunker network was designed to enable guerrilla warfare and civilian resistance, with structures placed in every conceivable location from urban streets to remote mountain passes.
