SANI I

SANI I was a former alternate seat (Ausweichsitz) for the state government of Rhineland-Palatinate (Landesregierung Rheinland-Pfalz) in Germany. Located near the town of Hermeskeil in the Hunsrück region, it was part of West Germany's Cold War continuity of government infrastructure. The facility was designed to house the state government and essential administrative functions in the event of a national emergency, such as a nuclear attack. The Hunsrück area, close to the former inner-German border, was a significant site for such bunkers due to its relative seclusion and perceived defensive advantages.
