The Alantikwall, or the Atlantic Wall, was built by the Germans constructed defense line from the Second World War. This one defense line started at the North Cape in Norway and continued through Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and France up to the Spanish border. Contrary to what the name suggests, this is what happened here not a continuous wall, but separate scaffolding consisting of bunkers, barriers and minefields. These work were built at strategic points such as the locks at IJmuiden, and at the Mouth in Hoek van Holland. A large one grew between these number of support points were built, which ensured that there was one a series of Stützpunkte, wider stand nests, and coastal batteries emerged. These positions were further protected by anti-tank ditches, tank walls, and minefields. However, the Atlantic Wall is never completely completed due to the invasion of Normandy. At that moment the Atlantic Wall consisted of 10,273 completed bunkers and were still there 799 under construction. The Atlantic Wall is an outgrowth of the West Wall was actually going to be 5000 kilometers long but due to the termination during the war, its length remained at 2,685 kilometers. In 1933 Nazi Germany started building the West Wall. This line ran via the German/French border and consisted of trenches and bunkers and tank barriers. Once Hitler had occupied Western Europe, he had to the Third Reich be protected and he came up with the Neue plan Westwall that would later be called the Atlantic Wall. The advantage of This line means that you can cover a large area with relatively few men can defend. Men who were desperately needed in the fight against the Soviet Union.

Immediately After occupying Western Europe, the German Kriegsmarine has already started with the construction of light to heavy coastal batteries along the European coast coast. These batteries consisted of gun emplacements, observation posts, ammunition bunkers and command bunkers. This is for the purpose to be able to control shipping traffic with a view to the future the attack on England. Then this attack in the fall of 1940 had definitively failed, the Atlantic Wall was given a different purpose, namely from offensive to defensive. Which means no more attacks were carried out. But that the Atlantic Wall would only serve defense of the 1000 year empire. On December 14, 1941, Nazi Germany ordered the construction of a huge one defense system. It was decided that there were a large number of heavy bunkers had to be built that could target both targets at sea shoot as a series of penetrated targets inland. And so began at the end of 1941 with the second construction phase of the Atlantic Wall.

In August 1942 the Atlantic Wall began to take shape and it was the intention is 15,000

to build bunkers that were standardized in different Regelbau types. The most important series was the 600 series. The bunkers were built by the fortress troops commissioned by Germany's largest state-owned construction company, the Organization Todt. This organization was responsible, among other things, for the construction of the Westwall and construction of the German highways just before the war. At its height, there were ample space available for the construction of the Atlantic Wall 100,000 Germans and 8,000,000 foreigners involved. And approximately 600,000 cubic meters of concrete were used monthly. On 1 In May 1943, 15,000 bunkers were planned to be ready but this turned out to be an unattainable goal. Due to lack of fuel and building materials, only 6,000 bunkers were completed. And it was decided to focus more on strategically important places.

Then the war progressed and the Allied bombings increased and struck more forcefully, a new building program was started, the so-called Schartenbau program. This means that the artillery is somewhat previously stood in open beds, from now on in heavy artillery bunkers had to be placed. What a major disadvantage the field of fire had was significantly reduced.

The third and final phase of the once mighty Atlantic Wall carried out in the name of the German general Field Marshal Erwin Clutter. This high-ranking German served between 1943 and 1944 inspection visits to the Atlantic Wall and decided that the positions still had to be further developed with anti-tank walls and dragon teeth and minefields. Rommel had the vision that everything had to be fixed stand. And thus went against the principle of a movable one war. He believes he must defeat the Allies on the beach. According to him, once these broke through, Germany would have the war lost.

This line of defense started at the North Cape in Norway and ran through Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and France to the Spanish border. Unlike that the name suggests, this was not a continuous wall but concerned the loose positions consisting of submersibles, obstructions and minefields. These works were built on strategic points such as the locks at IJmuiden, and at the Monding in Hoek van Holland. Among these were built a large number of bases that created a union of Stützpunkte, tributaries, and coast batteries. These positions were once more protected by tank-grabbing, tank-murs, and minefields. However, the Atlantik Wall was never completely reduced by the invasion in Asia. At that time, the Atlantik Hall was composed of 10273 completed
